Day One Boot Camp

It has taken me a very long time to decide that I wanted to do this Fitness Boot Camp. Since Matt and I got married last year, I have literally put on 15 to 20 lbs. I knew it was bad, just not THAT BAD. When I was working out of town I started with a personal trainer 2 days a week in January. It was good for what it was worth.

However, I didn't loose a lb and never really felt different. Then since I haven't been working out of town anymore, my work out plan has gone back to crap.

For the past week or so I have been googling boot camps in the area and calculated the costs, cost per session, days of weeks, time and locations. I wanted one that started straight away!! NOW...i couldn't wait any longer. Honestly, I am almost depressed with my body and my clothes. A REALLY NASTY FEELING.

And don't get my wrong, no one would look at me and go..."She's fat"! But ppl that know me, would say, "She's gained weight"!

So I found the boot camp I wanted to try. Extreme Boot Camp, http://www.extremebootcamp.com/. Check it out. Monday thru Friday, 6:30 to 7:30 for 6 weeks. I really wanted someone to come with me. I need a partner to get me motivated, so who else? No one other than the lovely D-Mac. When I told Matt that Dana was going to do it with me, he immediately laughed and said "Dana isn't going to do an outdoors boot camp". For those of you who don't know her, she doesn't love being outside in the sun or with bugs or whatever. Not like a girly girl, she is just more of a gym girl (me too, for now!).

Dana being the great friend that she is, knows how important this is to me, decides that she will try it. God Bless her soul! She tried it and discovered this is definitely not for her....THANK YOU DANA. I love you for it!

We had orientation on Sunday. During Orientation they weighed us (oh goodness), took our measurements (oh goodness) and timed us doing sit ups for 2 mins and push ups for 2 mins (oh goodness). They were VERY Encouraging to everyone saying "even if you can only do one, you can only improve". Sit ups - 31 Push ups -11....Not Bad, but not great.

So that brings us to now and today is the morning after my first day of boot camp. Boot Camp for me, wasn't bad. 1 hr long of pretty much full blast going. We stretched and first thing we did was run a mile. WHAT? A MILE...OUTSIDE....I mean on a treadmill, not a problem...but outside!! YIKES!!

Generally I run a mile btw 9 and 10 min. miles on a treadmill, so considering that I JOGGED it in 11:46 I am not incredibly disappointed. At the end of the boot camp they are going to time us again so that we can see our improvement. HOLY COW, to think in junior high and high school I was running 6-7 min miles!!

Pretty sore this morning, not too terribly! But ready to go again to day.

I will post later about my eating journal and all the other great details.

I am looking for your comments about Day 2. How are your muscles feeling this morning?

Love you -

You forgot to mention that there were like a hundred thousand gnats flying around our heads, into our eyeballs and ears. And that 50% of the workout involves lunges and squats and knee bending exercises which I can't handle cuz of the lovely bad knees I hate to love or love to hate...

Anyway...I DO love the outdoors. Hiking, camping...all that jazz. But working out is something I'm not that fond of and bugs and the bright sun shining on my face are also things I try to avoid. So...put all those together and what do you have? Extreme boot camp aka...hell on earth for one Miss Dana Davis.
